WBS Institute for Asian Educators Development
Empowering Educators – Building a Better Nation

Message from the President
“2014 marks another meaningful year for WBS as we continue to empower Filipino Educators across the country.  This year, we reaffirmed our commitment to protecting the rights of our members, promoting social transformation, and advancing quality, inclusive education.”

National Teachers’ Convention 2014
Held in Quezon City, the convention welcomed over 300 educators from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.  Sessions focused on mass-oriented education, the role of teachers in community building, and new strategies for teaching English as a second language.  Partners from our Asian affiliates also shared regional insights on pedagogical trends.

Support for Retired and Impoverished Teachers
This year, WBS launched the  “Dangal ng Guro” fund to assist elderly and ailing retired teachers who lack family support.  We provided hospitalization support to 23 teachers and ensured dignified burials for 7 of our beloved colleagues.  Volunteers and donors from our membership made this possible.

Promoting Educators’ Rights
We stood in solidarity with public school teachers pushing for better working conditions.  WBS representatives participated in national dialogues on teacher welfare and submitted policy recommendations on improving healthcare and retirement benefits.

Workshops for Nationalist, Scientific, and Mass-Oriented Education
Three regional workshops trained 120 teachers on integrating critical thinking, civic education, and Filipino heritage into their lessons.  The sessions strengthened our advocacy for education that responds to the nation’s needs and values.

Partnerships and Volunteer Engagement
This year, WBS welcomed 15 new volunteers who conducted English communication enhancement training for students and teachers in Samar and Bukidnon.  We also partnered with a university in Cebu to co-host a teacher upskilling program.

Looking Ahead
In 2015, we aim to expand our community outreach, strengthen our voice in educational reform, and enhance our members’ teaching capacity.  We invite everyone – retired or in service – to remain active in our shared mission.

Thank You
To our loyal members, dedicated volunteers, and generous partners: your commitment and solidarity keep WBS strong.  Together, we honor the past and shape the future of education in the Philippines and Asia.
